SOPHE Pacific Northwest

Why Join PNW SOPHE?Sailboats in front of Gas Works Park

PNW SOPHE is a volunteer, professional organization in which many members participate on various committees and the Executive Committee, bringing to the chapter:

Professional Development/Networking

The Chapter’s Program Committee organizes at least two educational workshops each year and also puts on two social/networking events. The Summer Social serves as the Annual Meeting of the organization. PNW SOPHE members enjoy reduced rates for these functions.

Accreditation for CHES

The Continuing Education Committee provides opportunities to obtain Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) continuing education credits. Programs developed by the PNW SOPHE Program Committee or by other agencies are approved for CHES credit and publicized by PNW SOPHE.

Job Bank

The Job Bank is available to all members. It is an online listing of open jobs identified by state.  The Job Bank web page is updated on a regular basis.  The page covers job openings in the Pacific Northwest - Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. Occasionally, jobs from out of the geographic area are included.  New listings are always welcome.

Legislation & Public Policy

PNW SOPHE is allied with a number of other public health organizations and participates in legislative and related efforts to further health education goals.  Public health advocacy is a priority activity of the PNW Chapter.

SOPHE Sounds

PNW SOPHE publishes a newsletter every four months, SOPHE Sounds. It includes news of local, regional and national interest regarding health education topics and resources, innovative programs, member profiles, Executive Committee reports, and a calendar of events.

Membership Directory

The annual directory, free to the membership, is a current list of members with their contact information.
